    dreambox 800c hd

    hi

    does anyone no what hd channels you can get on the db 800c hd and if it is worth upgrading to one

      BBC HD is the only channel the uk cable company supplies at the moment although they have said by autumn there should be up to 5 channels!

      wow!

      I don't think its worth it really.

                              how do u flash the 800c hd is it any different than flashing a 500c

                                      Considering the possible introduction of Nagra 3 (which would mean an end to using Dreambox's on the cable network) is it a good idea to buy an expensive cable DM800HD?

                                      A DM800HD sells for roughly ?330 right? For the same money you could easily buy a HTPC with HDMI out and a HD capable PCI DVB-C cable tuner card.

                                      i.e. AMD 785G IGP motherboard + Sempron 140 for under ?100. A HTPC case, 2GB DDR2 memory, SATA hard drive & HD capable PCI cable tuner card would be well under ?230.

                                      Not to mention it would be hundreds of times faster, include everything a normal PC does, a web-browser & ability to play 3D games etc. all through your HDTV
