Ok i'm using 2.12 evocamd. I put the evocamd 2.17c .tbz2 file into the temp folder. But now how do I install it? I press the blue button and i just get the plugin menu. With radio, rss news reader, tuxbox commander and teletext.

So what do i need to do exactly?

You do a manual install using the addons menu.

        Which image are you using?

To be honest, for cable, this verison won't be any better than 2.12 that you have installed. If anything, you'll need extra files on the box and it won't run as smooth. v2.12 is the best for cable.

Thtas right 2.11 and 2.12 are smoothest of the Evo cams.

If you have your box connected to your router, you can download new emu using the addons menu.

Yellow > Addons Manager > DK Addons > EMU

If you are using evocamd_2.12 and still getting freezing, press "Menu > Information > Right > Right" and note the SNR reading. This needs to be above 96% before you'll get rid of the freezing. If it's below 92% then you will need to either remove a splitter or get a signal booster.

Try connecting the dreambox to the main feed and see if the SNR % improves and the freezing stops. If it does, you have a low signal and you'll need a booster if you want to connect the splitter back into the line.

i'm already using a signal booster and my SNR is 94%.

How many times has the cable been split between the incoming feed into the house and your box, i.e does it go off to a modem or/and a subbed vm box etc etc?

the cable feed is split between modem, vbox and dreambox. But my signal booster is placed after the splitter .i.e just before the dreambox.

not sure if it will help mate but had the exact same problem with ss1 and ss3. I used a 6db attenuator (booster made no difference) and completely solved my problems. might be worth a try if the booster doesn`t work. - deanoboy

The above taken from a thread at DW,wrt freezing issues.

doesn't the attenuator just dumb down the signal? So you are saying my signal strength is too high?

Does, but also reduces any excess noise on the line which can cause freezing/break up.

i have a dial on my signal booster to lower the db. So i can adjust that and put the SNR to what I choose. Can i use that instead?

TBH i aint sure,i've got an original 500 from 3 yrs ago, they were notorious for freezing/signal issues.
I've only ever tried an argos booster,no good,no yellow brick in them days so tried an attenuator.
Have you tried tweaking the booster in different combinations.
