Push ribbon back on tight? Push it towards motherboard ?or tighten the tension of the ribbon

Okay i bought a Null modem cable(Female to Female) - not sure if its the right one.

Plug in to DreamBox and 1 old PC.

              Install Dreamup.

But how on earth do I know if the PC and the DreamBox is connected.

              I have opened up DreamUp.

It is just stuck at the "Please power up DreamBox"

Port 1 or Port 2 both tried

There is alot of irrelevant posts on that forums.

Okay, what happened to me was.

The box was unable to change channel, show was still playing, my mum left it to run for 1 night.

Next morning, show was still playing, but sound had distortion.

I switched it off and now the box is stuck in the green light "active".

How do i acertain that my box isn't bricked.

I have tried the null modem cable, Female to Female 9 Pin plug to my old PC.

There was no indication of whether it was connected or not.

"Dreamup" showed that the message "Please power on DreamBox", when the box is already being switched on.

                My main queston is.

                1) How do I know if the box is being connected to the PC.

                2) How do I get an indication that the box isnt bricked.

                3) Should I try USB method, they were mentioning the need for a driver.

                4) Any helpful advice for anyone facing this issue.

DM500c . Silver version has this problem, not for the black one.

                1) attempted to tighten the ribbon connection to MotherBoard and the Sensor area.

                2) attempted switching on and off the box for 10 times.

If you know the ip address it sometimes connects using core ftp and reflash the box it can also be a problem with the transformer
