    New Dreambox 500 HD

    Hi guys.

I am a new member and I am glad that I found a wonderful community like this. I just need some advice here.

When I was about to buy the Dreambox 800HD, I noticed that a new model, the Dreambox 500HD is coming out, but nobody knows the exact date. There is also a price for it which is expected to be ~ ?300 (?100 cheaper than the 800HD)

From what I read, the difference between the 2 models (800HD and 500HD) is that the 500HD doesn't have:
    1. the USB2 ports
    2. internal HDD option
    3. OLED display

    But the 500HD 's has:
    1. CPU of 400Mhz (instead of 300Mhz of 800HD)
    2. HDMI output (instead of DVI)
    3. DVB-S2 tuner (instead of DVB-S of 800HD)

They state that there is no USB outs but actually there is a USB (V.24 /RS232) in 500HD

I need your help here, as I don't know if the Dreambox 500HD, is worth waiting for. Shall I go for the 800HD instead?

    Thanks very much.
    Michael

Hey mate, think there is only one HD chan at the moment (more rumoured for the autumn though...) but the 500HD model does look good.

      Have u found a supplier?

      When is it available?

      Cheers

The 500HD is coming with twin tuners, Sat and cable. So HD will be a massive advantage as most people want both cable and satellite. 100s of HD channels across many satellites and sky UK has over 30

The only supplier I found that presumably accepts pre-orders for the 500HD is this one:
Dreambox DM 500 HD - satshop sat shop

The problem is that I have no experience with the above supplier.

Any of you know something about, or have any experiences with www.satshop.tv ??

It looks like a decent e-shop.

          Thanks
          Michael

I do hope that it will have a fast enough CPU and fast enough ethernet to support recording and playback (simultaneously) to PC/NAS.

                  Dreambox DM500 HD

I got a DM500 HD from satshop,tv Germany it was cheaper then buying it from the Uk and I saved 15 pounds by getting it from Germany. The Box came after 5 days
and when I received it. It was making a rattling noise by opening the box I found that it was faulty. They didn’t rap it in cardboard it came in a paper raping it has taken beating on the flight I guess. I sent the box back through the post office with insurance it cost me ?33. A new box arrived from satshop Germany it has a picture problem I sent it back it cost me again ?33 lost ?66 in total just to save ?15 on the box so I have asked them for a refund which I have not received yet. Now I should have brought it from a uk seller. Any problem I can just drive to their store and pick up the goods now I am ?66 out of pocket
