DreamBox 500C - Starting From Scratch

Hi All,
I have been reading the vast amount of info on the site, it can be a bit daunting to us Dream Box newbie?s.
If its ok with you good peeps I would like to start this thread in the hope hat I can get my boxes up and running again and others may follow suit.

Some basic info:

Laptop running vista with USB serial port / Null modem cable ( used many times to flash Euro Boxes )
Cross-Over cable for FTP process etc
DK 1.1 image
Keys and roms etc

Ok first thing first? please correct me if I?m mistaken

1. Flash box with new image using Dream Up and null modem cable ? carrying out flash erase during this process as per tutorial obtained on forum.

2. Once flash completed carry out deep / power scan for channels etc using the correct symbol rate for my area ? 6.887

3. The obtain IP address of box using remote

4. FTP keys files to /var/keys, except the .bin files.
FTP .bin files to /var/scce, i.e. nagrarom7.bin, nagraram7 .bin, nagraepr7.bin.

5. Go to Sky Sports 1, hold down info button for a few
seconds to bring up EMU Manager, press ok, wait for picture
to come up and all should be good

If this works can you lift a back-up image from one box and flash to another box to avoid the need for FTP procedure?..

Ok here goes with step 1, I will report back as I go along?. All help and advice is much appreciated to us numpties

That's pretty much what I did although I, perhaps wrongly, performed Step 2 after your Step 3. In any case, it all worked eventually.

Update

Hi All,
Box flashed with Dream up & DK V1.1 - all ok so far
Connected to box with FlasFXP
Copied Keys & Roms to correct files
Copied Picon info to Picon file

Do I over-write evocamd121_em.sh 205kb 19/04/08 with evocamd 246kb 11/02/09

you'll need to change the permissions on evocam to 755 - do this when in your FTP program.

once you got a working image, get a backup then flash to the other boxes, using dreamup but untick flash erase

Changing Permisions

Thanks fior reply,
I right clicked on the evocam, scrolled to Attributes (CHOD) and changed permisions to 755
Im heading home now to plug in and scan for channels.
If it worked is there a prog that you can use to set up favs and arrange channels like Voxer etc.

One more piece of advice please...

I have a box working now and would like to get the other one going.
Is there an idiots guide on how to save the image frm one box and transfer to another.
Also when you transfer does it also transfer and save channels

i use the telnet way to back it up - : http://www.digital-kaos.co.uk/forums...ia-telnet-760/ (just the backup bit)

then flash the new box with dreamup but untick 'flash erase' so it'll be like an exact copy

Missing Channels

Only Me,
I have been sorting channels into boquets etc. but I have found I have a few missing channels... Sky Movies, ITV2 & 3 etc.
If I try a manual transponder scan will this fek up my list or add channels to end as per Eurovox.
Also anyone point me in the direction of a DreamBox Edit Tutorial, can seem to find one
