DM500 Dream Multimedia and Clone Box Prob

right troops I have an issue just now i need help in resolving...

I have a (i think) a clone dbox, and it works fine...

A freind has given me a d500 (genuine/holograms etc) which i flashed with an image that works perfect on my (cloned) box but does not work properly when i flash the (genuine) 500!!! also it does not pick up half the channels that the other can find. Any ideas folks?

Can I clone and exact copy of my dbox and flash that??????

The clones have been through a few stages in their production. The initial clones had some noticeable differences. But now they are 99% identical. At one point, there was a batch of clones going about that had weak tuners and they didn't pick up all the channels and some channels would freeze and stutter. Just because the box looks like an original doesn't mean it is, if he bought it sometime within the past 18 months, then it's more than likely a clone. And it could be one of the boxes from a bad batch.

    See this thread...

Telnet Commands To flash an image using Telnet This method will only work with a .img image file. Rename the image file to backup.img FTP the image file to the /tmp folder on the dreambox Telnet to your box and paste the following command: cd /tmp && eraseall /dev/mtd/3 && cp backup.img /dev/mtd/3

Create a image backup of your good box and flash that image to the dodgy box. Then you'll know it's not an image issue if it still doesn't work.

Connect the dodgy box to the main feed, without any splitters, and see how it goes. Check the SNR reading on a dodgy channel (menu > info > stream info > 3rd page to the right). It really needs to be greater than 94% before you'll get all the channels. If it's less than that, you have a weak tuner or weak signal. A signal booster might be needed to bring it back up.

I have a DM500s too, looks very original but I think it's a clone as the manual and the box come with it doesn't looks original to me. and the MAC number on the Box, also under the DM500s and in the DM500s doesn't match either.
