Repeat until all the "SID0x0x" channels are gone. This is a bug in the scanning software of Enigma based images.

I believe this behaviour indicates that your friends are from the same provider (ex-NTL, ex-TW, ex-CW) and that is why the EPG part works, the channels are allocated the same MPEG2 PSI entries. However the "Signal not found!" message indicates they do not live in the same cable area as you. Their files have different frequencies for the transponders to those in your area. If you press menu->Information->Page3 and check the "lock" & "sync" you'll see they are not active (indicating there is no transponder on that frequency). Their files are useless to you.

See if you can find someone closer to you. Or post the channels you are missing, what area you live in and perhaps some kind soul will post the transponder frequencies for you to perform a manual scan (with network scan not selected).
Awesome post Alexh, thanks for that, I have alot of those SID 0x0x channels now so will test that out soon as I get home. My fiend only lives about 10 minutes from me, if that but I know hes on a different exchange and checked his internet connection (for the CPC zone thing) he's on "cpc1-bour5-2-0-xxxxx.cable.virginmedia.com" and I'm on "
cpc2-char4-0-0-xxxxx.sotn.cable.ntl.com" Also selecting Bournemouth in the list of Areas to Scan on the Transponder Scan, it wont lock, but Southampton is fine.

Anyway, I'm in the Bournemouth Area (Boscombe to be exact) so if anyone in the area does have some files they would like to share, I would much appriecate it!

Thanks again for the help Alexh! Mucho Gracias!

Too strong a signal will cause channel loss or break-up,try fitting an attenuator to feed into box.
Checkout the RED stickies massive amount of info and effort been put into them.

Just catching up with the dreambox - I've been mucking around with the Wii for a while...

Anyway, I'm in Poole - can I put up some files for you, or would that be on a different transponder thingamy?

I think I get everything at the mo, certainly all the sports and movies, and Merdian etc (which took ages to find, bizarrely)

Let me know which files you need, if it will help.

Hey middlewingnut, yea that would be great if you wouldnt mind, I use DreamBoxEdit 3 to download all the services and backup my channels etc, not 100% which is the EXACT file with all the channels in, pretty sure it's "services" located in var/tuxbox/config/enigma (correct me if I'm wrong someone)

          Nice one

That list of areas is stored in the cables.xml file within the image. It is nothing clever, it is a collection of data scraped together from people posting their details on forums like this. There is always the possibility of a transcribe error or it going out of date.

Very strange. You are closer together than I would have thought for you to be on two separate cable networks with different transponder frequencies. Perhaps talk him into bringing his box to your house. If it doesn't work at all without re-scanning then you can be sure you are on separate networks. Whereas if it does... then you know it is your box and perhaps you need a variable attenuator or (less likely) a booster.

Let us know how you get on eliminating the "SID 0x0x" channels. I recommend that before you start, you clear the "new found flags" next to each channel in the all services list so you can quickly see if you have found any more channels.

Press OK->Red to bring up the All services list, navigate up and down, when you see one with an exclamation mark (!) next to it, highlight and press Info -> remove 'new found flag'.

When you are finished you need to reboot your box from the main menu to save the state of these 'new found flags'
