Are you asking if the DM500C's "Web-X" interface can stream HD to your PC? To VLC??

    Interesting... never thought about it.

Obviously the DM500C can never view the HD streams directly but it should be capable of recieving them and then piping them out over ethernet...

Anyone know if this is possible??

go on to vlc, open a network stream using your box ip. like this 192.168.2.100:3388

the 3388 is the port, this is just an example so you will have to check what yours is.

you can find this by opening web x and looking at the bottom of the internet page for the port

this method is usually more stable than using web x to watch hd

you would need a fast broadband connection, 10 meg is not good enough as there is too much content to stream.

What about a wired LAN? From the DM to PC...

Ok, try wiring the box directly to the PC, maybe get past your bandwidth issues.

can't really they're desktops in different rooms - but since i'm using wireless N i don't see why bandwidth would be an issue i'm connected at 150Mbps

Wireless has a much lower speed than a cable connection

I can accept a direct connection is going to be a little faster however i can assure you my own tests have shown my wireless N setup can at least beat my 200mbp powerline adapters (in backing up files)

basically, i highly doubt the problem is in the network speed and more likely on software decoders, or streaming in general with the dreambox (i think i've read a old thread about the pli jade image being better/more stable for streaming then the DK image, but without more confirmation that it might work on HD streaming i'd rather not mess about with the dreambox too much).
