DM500 The newbie experience

As a newbie of a recently purchased Dm500 I would like to thank all the hard work and effort put in by the admin and members for all the help and essential guidance of this funtastic forum.

My EXP

Firstly printed of the newbies guide downloaded all recommended progs and then the nightmare began .

I had endless problems for the first 5hrs couldn't connect with the box, neither dreamup or flashxp could find it and just as I visualised taking a 2lb hammer to my laptop I looked in the corner of the back room and there lay my 9 year old Workstation. So I dusted of the cobwebs, chased of the neanderthals who thought they had invented the fist microwave oven and booted it up. As it groaned and clunked its way back to life after much cpr, I connected up the leads loaded on the software and voila it immediatley started talking to the dreambox like a gigalo on his 1000th date superb.

Everything went like clockwork first time and connected dreambox to tv and all was well with the world.

So the moral of this story is think twice before using a laptop to do the business try using an old PC with a serial port you know it makes sense.
