HD Channels on a DM 500c

if I do a scan, will the new HD channels VM have announced be found, and I assume if I was to switch to the HD Channel on a 500c I will get them in SD format

also if the channels be labelled as HD in another words how does one differenciate between the SD and HD channels

the DM and my PC both connected to a 100mb router via wired connection

obviously network bandwidth not enought to stream HD stuff to PC

I have a question; via web-x streaming 720p or 1080i content will be downscaled to 570i, for instance ? or content will be streamed "as is" ?

content will be streamed as it is i think, however you cant view or stream HD on a DM500

You get BBC, FX, MTV and Nat Geo SD anyway so all you have to do for them is to search in your channel listings for them
Lose your memory sticks? Forget to backup? Why not get 2GB of free space online, and I get 250MB too

a HD box can stream HD but a 500 is only a SD so not possible as it cant decode the signal itself

does that mean when I stream from DM500c to my PC using web-x-tv - the HD content is not HD but SD ?

From my experiment, I can view HD channels on my PC but not on TV.

Enigma based images have a built in webpage and one of the options is web-x-tv. It is not new, they have always had this feature as long as I can remember.

Basically it streams the filtered MPEG transport stream out of the box via the ethernet port and can be watched over the network on a remote computer using a web-browser if you have VLC media player and it's browser plugins installed.

However most images for DM500C are dodgy to say the least when it comes to this. A mixture of bad coding and RAM bandwidth limitations can introduce errors in the stream.

Also the latest version of VLC (1.0.0+) checks MPEG2 transport streams more thoroughly and rejects ones without PMT/PAT information. You end up with a black screen with "waiting for video". Someone in the dev scene should really get to the bottom of this and fix it once and for all.
