can the dreambox remote be programmed to operate the telly?

Not the 500C, Dreamboxes that can record and have the remote control that has the PVR buttons on the remote can be reprogrammed, but i checked online and couldn't see anything for the 500c.
The closest i came was seeing a guide to opening up the remote and actually reprogramming the commands on the chip inside, it uses a common standard in them terms, but is waay too long for what we want.
