DM500 How to reset password on DM500c

I recently acquired a dm500c clone flashed with PLi firmware. But the supplier has locked the settings menu with a password. I need to access it so that I can change the settings for video.

Anyway to get around it? Please bear with a noob..

But I will lose all my s**rh*b channel settings if I do that no?

yes mate but all you need to do is rescan, why dont you contact the seller and ask him for password

Use flashwizzard to back up your settings the re enter them back into box when new image in flashed. Im sure there is a way by ftp into the file. I think i done it on a 500s as i forgot the password and was able to change it. This is what i had in my files about it.
First of all you can try and erase the current Password:
1) Install TuxCom plugin
2) Run it from Yellow button
3) Point to /var/etc/password
4) Υou can easily blank out root password to gain full access to the box

Now you have erased the password that you see in the root line and becomes root::0:0::/:/bin/sh
You can telnet your dreambox now and give your new password

Keep in mind it was for a sat box, but might not be the same. Havent got a 500c to check for you.

Use flashwizzard to back up your settings the re enter them back into box when new image in flashed. Im sure there is a way by ftp into the file. I think i done it on a 500s as i forgot the password and was able to change it. This is what i had in my files about it.

2) Run it from Yellow button
3) Point to /var/etc/password
4) Υou can easily blank out root password to gain full access to the box

Now you have erased the password that you see in the root line and becomes root::0:0::/:/bin/sh
You can telnet your dreambox now and give your new password

Keep in mind it was for a sat box, but might not be the same. Havent got a 500c to check for you.

Thanks. But I just registered yesterday and I have not read the wonderful noob guide for new users. Not to mention that I do not even know how to install a plugin (or where to download the tuxcom plugin) for now.

But I am aware that my box might be using AUkeys. I am not sure as I just bought it a week back from the asshole supplier who locked the settings menu.

One more thing, to install a plugin all I know now is that I must have root access. If the password for the box (root/dreambox) has been changed, I don't think there's anyway to install anything less to flash the firmware.

I connect my DM500 to Internet and downloaded the TuxCom Plugin. It worked perfectly . Thanks !

I have had a clone dm500 for the last couple of years but now I changed my - "suplier" - who put a new image on it and now I got the not responding dm500 issue (with no led showing an such), but during the imaging proces it keept prompting for the initial passeord despite having a fresh image put on to it - would this cure this problem once and for all - ?
if it does I would bother with re animating my dm500 with the jtag - but else ... not
