DM500 Backing up an image (firmware) with dreamup, SH cable users pls come in

Ok, I have a dm500c clone (black box with small circular window with LED indicators. Blue = on, Red = standby)

Firmware is Pli Team v1.9 dated 22.03.09

I am currently thinking of a way to access the settings menu which is locked down by a password. Some gurus recommend tuxbox commander plugin. But let's say if the telnet password has been changed (not root/dreambox) how am I supposed to ftp the plugin to the box?

Another thing is that the seller told me that this box autoupdates the keys which I suppose is a AUkeys image. Can someone tell me :

    a) Can dreamup backup the image and when re-flashed will it revert to its factory settings?

    b) Will the re-flashed image still have the services file.. etc so that I do not have to go through the tedious process of setting up the channels again (I'm on s**ah*b cable)

    c) Or if any expert here which can help me in SG. Please PM me.

use dreamup to create a backup img
when flashing click no to flash erase and all your setting will be saved (including the password)
if you click yes to flash erase your setting will be lost
just like restoring to factory setting

But mine is not the DK image so I would need to flash erase if I update it? AFAIK, flash erase is not needed if I am updating DK firmware (as an example) from 1.0 to 1.1. Right?
