    Missing Channel

I can't get the Sci-Fi channel on NT*L in Dublin. The SNR is 60-80%, however it did work in the past. Have NT*L changed things around again recently, or do I just need a signal booster?

I suspect you have moved something. If you were getting it before you should still get it.

I would try playing with the cable feed and remove any splitters and see how you get on.

Having the same trouble with multiple boxes in a few different houses so its definitely not connection related. All these boxes are running the latest version of dreamworldz.

EDIT: Just tried it again there and I'm getting Sci Fi but the signal is horrible. But Bravo +1, Living +1, Nick Toons and Nick Replay are just coming up "Service could not be found"

Are all the houses in the same street or running off of the same Green Box on the street?

I would get everyone to chip in for a SLX booster from Argos ?8.99 and try that!

That's the message I get with SNR < 80%. Must be something to do with that transponder. I'll try a signal booster to see if it helps.

I suspect that the few channels your having signal problems with are on the same transponder. Check what transponder they are on and all same, then it could be a problem with your tuner. I had a box like that didnt like a certain feq. Couldnt be fixed for me. But you could also try and get a booster to increase strenght if thats the problem.

2 of them in the same house and 2 other ones miles away, we have a signal booster lying around somewhere. I'll give that a go.

i just bought slx2 amplifier with adjuster to increase or decrease the db, the reason being i tried one without adjuster and all channel went, when i enqured i was told to much singnal would also make the box loos channels, so with adjuster you can control the amont of db that reaches your box and all seems fine.

Your ideal signal readings are SNR - 96% and BER - 0.

If you get less than about 90% you will loose channels, the more it goes down from 90%, the more channels you'll loose. Each transponder has a varying strength. This is a low signal and you'll need an amplifier or booster.

If you get SNR of 96% and a high BER then you have a strong signal, you're still getting good SNR but the error in the signal is also high giving you a high BER. You'll need an attenuator to fix this or reduce the gain on your amplifier.

www.beststuff.co.uk is good for signal stuff.
