I hope the following, based on my own experiences as a newbie will help, or at least amuse others having the same problems.
1. Plugged all in and ran set up with the pre-installed image?nothing found, no provider option in tuner config.
2. Installed new image using Dreamup, same thing, so searched the web for net area ID, and inserted in etc/enigma2/settings
3. Scanned and got 187 channels, only 4 working. Manually inserted cables xml file in var/etc. No change.
4. Tried 6 other images, using browser to flash, including latest Open ATV form their website.
5. Rescanned no change
6. Trawled forum for help and posted a thread, which was closed by moderator? Thanks.
7. Found Smirnoffs June image, and installed and ran autobouquetsC2, which helpfully has its own Net Id list.
8. Got an error 79 buffer overflow msg. Still 187 channels all nicely listed but only 4 working.
9. Donned armour and mounted Trusty Steed in quest for mythical ?Magic? files, amidst hoots of hysterical laughter from forums.
10. Tried another image update, and got a ?ca not found?. Fixed with NCF program.
11. Started again from scratch with Smirnoffs image
12. On Startup got a screen msg ?SID Cannot Enter PAT??. I feel for him, I really do!
13. Using a damp cloth, wiped blood and sweat from box and resolved to post on ebay.
Sincere thanks to Smirnoff for the only truly user-friendly image I found, and I tried many.
But ultimately any newbie will come up against the same brick wall of amused silence.
I know my way around a pc, as can probably be seen from the above, but I think a permanent sticky to the effect that only those with a working knowledge of linux should purchase a box, would help.
