Im having no luck with anything I'm thinking my box is possibly a clone and thats why i can't connect using dreamup ... Going to have a look for my sledgehammer to put this box out of its misery and give me a stress relief !!

Doesn't matter if it's a clone, it's 99.999% a clone if you've bought in the past 2 years so being a clone is not the fault.

Do you have a com port on your PC or are you using a usb-serial adapter?

Do you have a null modem cable? You can get a serial or rs232 cable and they look exactly the same but they won't work, it needs to be a null modem cable. Can you test it on another box? Have you successfully used it before?

Remove the lid and reseat the ribbon cable that comes from the serial connection, it's only a wee connector that slots onto the main board.

i have both, a usb to serial converter and just a straight serial to serial cable, but didn't actually realise that they were different to a null modem cable so think thats where i'm at fault, thx for the help

You can get them on ebay for ?2. Search for 'null modem eurovox' and you'll get one.

Or maplin and argos do them for ?10.

Tried argos none in local to me and maplin have sold me the wrong ones in the first place ! Gits ! I'll try them again tomorrow tho

1 more question tho, is it possible to convert a 500c to work on satellite as i have 2 500c's ?

You've need to remove the dvb-c tuner and put in a dvb-s tuner.

You're cheaper just buying a dm500s.

I know I'm many months behind everyone else, but I've got to say this image is fantastic!

I installed it last night onto my Cable box and fell in love with it immediately, it's so well laid out and responds immediately. Today I'm going to install it onto my Satellite box, it is, IMO on a par with the older Nabilosat 0.8 image and miles better than the new Nabilosat Darkstar II.
