A friend of mine had the same problem as u m8.

Setanta Sports, and couple of the music channels just wouldn't come, carried on getting "Channel Not Available" the SNR on these channels ranged from 40k - 50k, not enough for a picture. tried all sorts of different things.

told him to get the booster u have, and its kinda sorted his problems out. he plugged it in and turned the Gain i think all the way to the highest and now he gets the channels, the SNR is not at the highest, maybe at 60k abit above. but u only need 60k for the picture to clear and a decent picture as far as i no.

      Hope that helps m8.

      EDIT:

One more thing, is the box connected directly to the feed, if not and ur a using a splitter, take it out connect it directly to the feed. also try and use a different coax cable as u could be getting signal loss through the cable, as i understand that if u bend the coax to much or the longer it is signal degradation is a possibility

What SNR are you getting with and without the booster?

We can work out what you need if you give us the figures. You should be aiming for around 90% ideally.

An attenuator will reduce the signal strength so having a booster and an attenuator will cancel each other out (if the same strength) bit can clear up some noise.
