DM500 JTAG Bootloader for DM 500C Philips tuner

Anyone got a bootloader that will work with the 500c with Philips tuner?
All the ones Ive tried dont work. They upload ok using the windows jtag prog, but the light doesn't come on wheni reboot.
Changed the names of 4 different bootloaders to blimg already but cannot find one that works with my old 500c

I have also tried the windows jatag program with different types of bling, and tried the mac address v2 prog with cable tuner selected, and still no green light.
Dream up wont work with it after that either.

If I use the dos jtag program for a DM500-s, it programs and works with an image (pli), but no tuner (obviously). So it proves that my jtag interface is working and also my dreamup and rs232 connections.

My DM500C is a 2004 rev 7.0 PCB

I may try to put the 74LS245 buffer in line with the jtag, just in case, as the speed with the windows version seems to program faster than the dos version, and not having the buffer, could cause latency issues/errors.

Well I tried the buffer chip, and it didnt fix the bootloader problem.
I proved that the jtag interface works by loading the jtagDM500.exe bootloader.
Of course it thinks its a DM500s type tuner box, but I can load an image via dreamup also and so on.
This is a good test to make sure the hardware and PC are all working together and is ok.

So all was good, but I need it to be a DM500C not a DM500s.
Keeping the jtag still connected.

Here is what I did:

I downloaded dm500mac_generator_v2.zip file. The one the has a bling and text file only.
Its NOT the one with the program that does all the DM500's with the 3 bullet selections, mac address etc. Wrong one!

I got a copy of ultra edit(Hex editor program) and found that the data was reverse endian.
All the bling files I had where like this, except for the "dm500mac_generator_v2.zip" with the bling file and text file in it only!

I also downloaded the Dos version of jtagdm500.exe. You need this too. I will explain this later.


So since I had the hex editor open and looking at the bootloader blimg, I also found where the mac address is located and change it
so it would match my sticker on the bottom of my unit. (its at the end of the bootloader blimg code: Hex address 0001ffc7-0001ffcc)
After that I saved it and kept the blimg file name.

You need the jtagwin5xxx windows program too. This is the tool needed to load the blimg file.
I then copied the new blimg, that I modified the mac address on, to the directory of jtagwin5xx,
replacing the old one already there.

Then Run jtagdm5xx.exe

Eventually when the write button appeared (That needs power plugged in on the DM500, at the correct time for it to work.Tricky!),
you load the bootloader.

After its finished, power down the DM500C.

Now... Run the dos jtagdm500.exe program, then plug in the power to the DM500C.
You should then see... DM500 initialised, Then pull the power out of the DM500C as quick as you can, before the program continues.
Close the dos program.

Re power the Dm500C and the green light should now be lit on the front panel.
Run Dreamup and load your enigma image.

You can just use the orig blimg file from the dm500mac_generator_v2 without changing the mac address.
I just wanted my real mac address in my unit.

Hope this helps someone else too.

The jtage500 is for a sat box version of the DM500, or the DM500s....
Is your box a Cable version of DM500 or a Satellite version?

Go through my previous posts and follow what I did.

My Box is a DM500c or Cable version of the DM500.

If you have a sat version, then I'm not sure about your problem.... but with jtaging... you must keep wire lengths very short, and you may have to put the parallel port in different modes in the pc's bios.....

DM500C recovery

Jtagged my DM500 with Jtagdm500 / Dos programm.
Box is awake and at least has a red light steady "on".
Unable to communicate, neither LAN (DCC) nor dreamup
Desperatly needing a bootloader for 500C.

Does it matter which tuner model u had?
I had a bricked DM500C with a tuner labelled NuTune.

A google check returned that Nutune is a joint venture of NXP and Thomson.

My jtag connectivity seems working on both DOS and Win based program. But I can't revive the DM500 bootloader for DreamUp. I tried the bootloader files from the 3 popular make.

Is there any way to flash directly via JTAG?

Alternatively, anyway to download a working copy of bootloader from existing working DM500C with NuTune tuner?

I can not find this bling....the same file I found only has the exe and txt readme only? No Bling file

I flash the DM500, but I think the tuner type is wrong, because I can upload teh OpenPLI image and it works, however there is no picture and the front end is set to None.
Will try a different tuner type and I'll post a result here.
