    you again heheheheh
simple conect null cable up and ethernet but dont plug power on on dreambox yet
    tick use network box

theres two boxes now for your ip addys one ip is for your PC and the other ip is for your dreambox
you have your static ip addy so enter it there for the dreambox then hit conect

    power up your dreambox
wait for it to initialise then hit the flash button nav to your .img file and flash

it does two things now when connected via serial and ethernet

for the flashing and erasing it uses serial but for the uploading of the image tis will use the ethernet MUCH MUCH faster

    hope this helps m8

    cheers

ps telnet and webif is faster too

It's also a shame people don't use the Search feature and/or spend 5 minutes to look up half a dozen posts that address the same issue. Kinda defeats the purpose of having a "forum".

Yes its nice when peeps use the search on forums, it does stop a lot of unnecessary questions, but Osborne and Napster are very experienced blokes and been around forums for many years, i am sure they would have used the search button many times before.

Google: "dreamup network dm600" hit up the first post, furthermore Dreamup over the network is probably not the easiest way to flash the DM600, see:

Hello.. Im new to all this dreambox and cable malarky.. however it is fascinating stuff and would appreciate some advice/help getting a dreambox up and running.. really not sure where to begin so would be grateful if someone can point me in the right direction.. tia

I've been playing about tonight and discovered this while looking through some files...don't know how useful it is to anyone lol but never the less.... If you have a DM500, DM56xx or DM7000.... eraseall /dev/mtd/1 && reboot If you have a DM600-PVR, DM500+ or DM7020... rm -R /etc/enigma && killall -9

                      I did read your post.

I'm replying in the context of "faster option for flashing" which is the web interface JohnO has mentioned and the process that those two forum posts outline. If you choose to ignore other ways of achieving exactly what you're asking that don't require a third party application and other screwing around that's up to you.

When I first recieved my box I used dreamup because that what I came across until someone posted the telent method. I maybe mistaken but to flash with the telnet method you need to know the ip address of your box. napster is actually quite experienced with the Dm500 but he is still quite new with the Dm600 so i am not really surprised he is following the path that he is familiar with rather trying something completely new and bricking his box. I am sure like all of us once he try the telnet method he will not waste his time with dreamup.

I've a dm600 connectd to a network / router. I always get a checksum error when I try this method - so I do the following:-
                          1) conect null cable but dont plug power on on dreambox yet
                          2) start dreamup & make sure "use network" box is not ticked
                          3) power up your dreambox & wait for it to initialise
                          4) exit dreamup without flashing
                          5) enter dreambox IP addres into web browser
                          6) this brings up a bootloader page - there's a flashing option at the bottom
                          7) go into the the flash menu & nav to your .nfi file and flash
                          8) re-start dreambox
