you still havent stated if its chorus or ntl
im on chorus and have all my channels on mmds
MMDS is slightly different as it uses transmitters to broadcast your signel rather than cable in Chorus areas !
But do not think you will get away it because you are useing MMDS as it too is fully compatable with N3 and if you are useing older receivers like General Instrument or Jerrold cable receivers that are chipped these will become obsalate as well....
Once your nearest town or city has been switched to N3 expect MMDS to be N3 within days .........

im on chorus mmds mate its dvb-t they havent even started sending out n2 cards yet as far as im aware now ntl mmds dvb-c is a totally different story, chorus mmds will be last to make the switch over as far as im aware
Chorus cable they have started sending cards out the last few weeks but they are still on n1. Maybe they will go straight to n3, but nothing has happened there yet, not in county dublin anyway, or with chorus mmds.

From what I am reading Chorus & NTL are swopping receivers with cable customers reflashing it and making modifications for use with MMDS customers, As receivers released in 2008 in cable areas are capable of handeling N3 cards, some customers having had this switch take place all ready this month...
its is not possable as it would be far to expencive for both Chorus & ntl to continue N2 on MMDS and N3 on Cable as Nagravision is based on a subscription type system, they are not going to pay for both, UPC the owners of both cable companys in Ireland are one of the biggest cable companys in Europe and are based in Holland, they can afford any new receivers they see fit !
As I have said before Chorus and NTL have had to bring the hadware and software up to the latest versions since they were only useing N1 for the past few years, for them to start N3 they had to release N2 as that was the previous version, once N2 is up and running they can introduce N3 ..
As cable /MMDS Demodulation is different to Satellite its easy enough to upgrade or update recently released receivers to take a N3 card as the encryption is actually sent in the transmittion the card is just a key for the user on the network...........
i know what you are saying, but surely they will be sending out n2 cards on chorus mmds 1st before n3 or do you think chorus mmds will just go straight to n3 and there is talks of changing chorus mmds to dvb c so that will take a bit of time there is still a lot of customers on chorus mmds
