Na mate just scan on your symbol rate as I said it'll be there eventually But as Ops said alas no Arsenal TV that was part of the Setanta package that went to the wall.

I have the similar problem i have lost the disco*ery channels only. I have scanned and scanned they are in the services list in brackets which as i understand is avaialbe to watch but the Dreambox reports "tuning failed". Is there someting i am doing wrong? i have scanned for services reboot DB got to premium channel and restart cam and still no disco*ery channels.

                  Anyone got any idea's

                      I think you're wrong.

An Enigma based dreambox's automatic scanning is not algorithmic, nor is it exhaustive. It uses a file (included with most images) called cables.xml. A list of symbol rates & frequencies to scan. If frequency & symbol rate for the transponder containing the missing channels is not in that file no matter how many scans you do the dreambox will never find it.

You can turn to a working channel and do a manual scan with NETWORK selected which will use the PSI information contained within the MPEG transport stream which contains the symbol rates and frequencies for all the other transponders on the network. Problem is Virgin regularly screw up the PSI tables and miss out transponders.

The best chance is to find someone in your area who can tell you the frequency of one of the missing channels with which you can perform a manual scan. That person must be on the same network (i.e. ex NTL/TW/C&W) and area for the transponder frequencies to be the same.

The next best chance is to check and if necessary update your cables.xml file with one with more frequencies.

Are you sure you are looking in the ALL SERVICES list and not an out of date bouquet?

Bring up the channel list and press RED. That should get you into the ALL SERVICES list.

Browse the long list and see if there are duplicate entries for the channels you are looking for.

"tuning failed" usually happens with an out of date bouquet entry (or one copied from someone elses box in another region). It means invalid channel ID. Perhaps they have moved the channels you are looking for to a different channel ID however the old ID is still active in the PSI data. Explaining why it does not change it's entry to (service removed) when you select it.

Worst case you could backup your services file & bouquets to your PC, delete them and reboot. Your box will have no channels and you can scan from scratch.

                        Thanks for the info alexh,

Today I done a scan without going via the splitter in the front room which is running a VM box. I think this all started to happen when the VM box was replaced with a new one the guy also replaced the splitter, this is defenitely having an effect on the Dreambox. If i go to BBC HD without using the splitter in front room ie directly out so to speak the BBC HD channel is perfect, if i then connect it through the splitter the BBC HD channel goes blured and the sound is distorted, so i think that is one issue. any ideas?

There is plenty to go off what you have explained my friend has a DM500 i will get the channel frequencies off him. If all else fails.

He has gone away for the weekend so will have to waite.

                        Cheers
