    How do CAMs actually work?

    I have a 500c Dk1.1 receiving all the VM channels. To be honest, I have no idea how the thing works - I just followed instructions to set things up with images and keys etc.

    Does anyone have a link that explains how the CAMs work and the keys as well? An idiots guide really!

      CAM (conditional access module) take the cable tv stream, extract the encryption part, then it decrypts the signal and roberts your father brother

      that is in the simpliest of terms.

          Righto! There seem to be a lot of cams out there. Do they differ much?

              Also...when Nagra 3 comes out, will someone have to write a CAM to decrypt those signals?
