DM500 Blackbox dm500c not flashable via dreamup, need help

I have an OEM box which looks something like this : BlackBox 500C, Buy Blackbox 500c, blackbox cable, black box 500c, blackbox 500

Dreamup does not seem to detect the box after the part where I click on "connect" and it prompts to power on the device. It just hangs there. I have another clone which is the authentic clone and it has no problems.

So what are my options? Did the trader deliberately disable the connection to the RS-232 port? Is it safe to open it up and reconnect it? (Would be glad if someone can provide a schematic) or is there a clone dreamup for OEM boxes?

Breamup is the same for gen boxes as for clones boxes... i take it you are trying to flash with a null modem cable, have you also tried to flash with a network cable of sorts yet (cross over for direct flashing, straight through cable for use with a switch/router)?

How long have you had this box?

Black Box should be fine. Stupid question, but does the unit power up at all?

First make sure your are using a null modem cable and not an rs232 cable.

I've got a few where the coms post connector from the motherboard to the comes port came loose perhaps during shipping or in some cases plug in wrong way, so I would check that if I was you.

You can flash via ethernet is another option.

I am using dreamup with a null modem cable and it worked with the other box I mentioned. If the RS232 port is loose do I just open it up and reconnect it? Do you have a picture of the PCB with the cable connected?

I can't flash via telnet because the settings is locked and I believe DHCP is disabled.

you start dreamup, then press connect button, THEN you plug in the box. i know from experience that if you dont plug in the box pretty quickly after you hit the connect button then the box doesn't connect
if you plug in box before you press connect it won't see box

If its a working box then try flashing with flash wizard pro, you need to set up static ip with your pc and your box to flash.
check in dloads for software and tutorials.

I can't do that as I tried to connect via flashfxp before it won't respond. And I can't change the network settings as it's locked.

I connect the null modem cable to the box with it's power off. Run dreamup, press connect & it will prompt "poweron the dreambox". It works for my other box but not this one so I believe the steps are correct.

could the rs232 connection be disconnected? open the unit and there is a calbe from rs232 to the motherboard. it may have comes loose or in wrong way round?

Or the trader I bought it from might have disconnected it on purpose.
