    Network issues (10.0.0.97)

    Hi,

My D500C has been driving me crazy lately. The problems started since I changed some of my hardware (router DIR-655 and modem EPC-2607) but I don't think (or understand) how those could have affected the dreambox.

The problem is that every now and then the box will loose its LAN connection. Sometimes it happens if my router restarts but sometimes it happens "by itself".

Now, if I don't mess with network settings it simply says "offline" in status and is completely unreachable. The router will however report the dreambox as connected and with right IP adress.

If I turn on the DHCP, the box will get IP 10.0.0.97, netmask 255.0.0.0 and gateway 127.0.0.1 assigned. All wrong, of course... Only the name server will be correct - 192.168.0.1. And the status remains to be "offline"... In the router I can see that the dreambox is connected and has been assigned proper IP adress (e.g. 192.168.0.199).

Another weird thing is that if I now enter all the parameters manually (including IP 192.168.0.150), turn off DHCP and restart the box, the box status will be the same as described in the beginning (i.e. unreachable) but the router will continue to report the box at 192.168.0.199...

Have also tested to reserve the IP adress in the router (connected to MAC) but the box remains offline...

Two other computers and the VoiceIP box are connected to the same router and work perfectly all the time...

The worst thing is that I don't even know how to do the "rough fix"... Sometimes rebooting helps, sometimes it doesn't... Sometimes rebooting the router and the box helps, sometimes it doesn't... Every time it happens I have to play with different sequences of rebooting and DHCP activation to get it to work - and it happens at least once a day.

    Grateful for any hints!

10.0.0.97 is the assigned ip for dream multimedia AFAIK. So clearly your box isn't obeying its network settings. Just reflash it. No other solution will work.
