need to return item back to dvbseller - Q about shipping

    Hi Guys,

Unfortunately I need to return my dreambox back to dvbseller as I cant get past the "error resetting lock-bits" problem. I'e tried just about everything.

Their returns policy states that I must send via EMS. What does this mean? Is EMS a courier?

    tia.

ok, I don't mind paying. But what on earth is EMS? From what I can make out it's a chinese courier.

how do I arrange to ship via EMS from the UK?

in UK EMS use parcelforce. So look for parcelforce number and call to arrange pick up. They are part of royal mail

I've had my fiar share of lock bits on units. But I keep on trying to dreamup it and eventually it fixes itself. lock bits is just a bit of bad memory which has got courpted during your reflasing.

ah ok thanks guys, thats a lot clearer now.

about the lock-bit error. I've tried LOADS of times (10/12 times) to flash & reflash and still keep getting the same problem!

, i've just checked the parcelforce prices - and it doesn't seem worth sending it back! I Might keep trying to flash & re-flash.

Also try different versions of dreamup...may help. Also you dont send everything back to dvbseller.only the motherboard...so not too expensive returning.

Hi. I had to return a faulty DM500C board to DVBSeller. I was given instructions from DVDSeller to return the board only. They gave me a reference number and address stating that BOTH must appear on the address label. Like yourself they stated that EMS should be used. However the cost using Parcel Force was almost as expensive as the box itself. I emailed a guy called Simon in DVBSeller and he told to me send it via regular airmail. The cost was less that ?5. It did take over 4 weeks for the replacement board to arrive but when installed it flashed without any problem.

I can bypass the lock bits error usually by removing the ethernet cable and unchecking use network in dreamup.

Just use a null modem cable by itself - that usually works fine.

Yeah, I'm using a null modem cable at the moment.

Although I've only just realised a serial and null modem cable are two different things, even though they look the same. Maybe i'm using a seral cable. Might have to double check that.

Common mistake. it MUST BE a NULL Modem cable.

I'm in the same situation here from DVBSeller, i get 'ERROR resetting lock-bits'

I have tried a number of different images, versions of dreamup & even the erase.img with no luck

Looks like i'm going to have to pay the ?25 or whatever to send it back
