Dreambox 500C SetUp Probs

Hi,
I have just got a dreambox 500C and I am trying to set it up using info from here but i cant download the idiots guide as not enough posts so I thought I'd ask...

Well it is set up enough for me to ftp to the box from my laptop via cross over cable and can see all the folders etc.. I have added a few things from here into the var/?? folders but not sure exactly what i'm upto with that so.

When i do a scan it come up with all known transponders have been tried, but no lock was possible. Verify antenna-/cable-setup or try another satellite/network on sr 6900 and sr6875.. They are automatic scans.. I have a gemini project Image I believe or so it shows in the about section so I'm a icle lost what to do next. if ya need more information just shout I'm in yorkshire too if that helps any1

You have this box connected to a live V media feed then ? When you say you ftp'd to the box, what exactly did you send over and why ?

hi mate yeah v media is live i have normal box working just 2 min ago.. well actualy i have just grabbed kaos image 1.1 and flashed it and now when i run a bruteforce it finds the transponder how do i save it?? as it just scans again.. mayb i'm just being silly and cant see for looking

anyway what i added was a few nagraepr7.bin (various numbers) to a folder (not sure why was trying things out)

and added some keys again just trying shit ..

If you flash with a working image you will not need to add rom files, it sounds like your making good progress, after it finds transponders hit green button to scan, let it do its stuff and when finished reboot the box and enjoy.

yep good progress... suppose as i'm away flying with this is setting up recording to pc hard? Is it done via ethernet cable? .. cheers for your response too

Dreamviewer is your friend on that one and it really is simple, conncet via ethernet add ip and off ya go

next problimo.. i cant view non FTA programs just has a key in bottom right and doesnt show.. i get info from channel just no picture.. what do i need to do now?

Right, you need to leave it on a non fta channel for a bit, providing it is the latest working image with the correct roms it should update.

I assume it needs to be on net? i just have it on laptop @ min via cross over.. oops i will swap that now cheers for info
