    DM800c

    Hey guys,

First post here, been using a dreambox for quite a while for satellite now just bought one of the new 800's and got a cable tuner with it so thought I'd give it a go :-)

On scanning it finds nothing, after lots of reading I need to get me a bruteforce cables.xml or generate my own somehow I think...am I correct in thinking this?

Anyone else using an 800 out there???

Sorry about asking questions in my first post but I have read alot and hate giving in and asking questions!!

    Cheers

However, welcome to Kaos mate, see you around...

Cheers mate, I'll update as I go :-)

      <--mini__me added 3 Minutes and 19 Seconds later...-->

I've seen a few cables.xml's on here but I don't have permission to download them yet...do I have to make a minimum number of post's first? Don't want to just spam and makeup posts though to do this and piss off the Mods here. I'll keep searching, didn't realise the 500c's were so damn cheap!!! Could have bought a clone for less than the price of the dvb-c tuner for the 800 :-(

Yeah I can scan but nothing is found using the cables.xml in the gemini image..I did find an old services.xml for a dbox2 that I knicked the frequencies out for my region and tried scanning with that but it found nothing. Though I think the file was from 2005 so probably is out of date.

I'll do some more digging around, don't just want to make up 5 posts about sh*t just to download from here.

As an aside, the DM800 has an awesome picture on SD and HD channels :-) Got it hooked up using the Sat tuner at the moment and I think the picture is outstanding :-)

Does the gemini image not have a cable blind scan feature?

Not that I could see....however I'm used to the sat side of these babies so wasn't 100% sure on the scanning side of things.

Will stick the tuner back in and have another go in a few days :-)

try this with manual scan without cables xml
do you know the frequency for your area mine it 803000
                  add the first three digits
yout symbol rate for your area
                  tick invert
                  tick network scan
                  Attached Files
                  dm800-s=1.1 m triax motorised dish=titanium twin lnb

If you're on ex-tw, make the frequency 619MHz, symrate 6952.

                    INV - Tick
                    Use BAT - Tick
                    Use ONIT - Tick
                    Network Search - Tick

                    Start search.

If you know the default frequency for your area, you don't need a frequency list. It will use the NIT table to scan only transponders with channels and it will be a quicker.

None of the images except the UK modded images such as DK1 or Cli image will have an UK cables.xml file. Why don't you download the cables.xml file from the download section and than copy it to your dm800 once you have flashed it with an image.

                          Hey guys quick update,

I downloaded to cables.xml from here and tried them out on the box but no joy, it could just be that the cable has been cut as I haven't used it for a long long time anyways :-(

I only bought the cable tuner for a play will be mainly using this box for Sat anyway so if anyone wants the tuner and backplate etc for the 800 you can have it for ?50 delivered.

Cheers lads for all your help anyway!!
