    DM500 not scanning properly

    Hi everyone,

New to the forum & maybe asking something ovbious, but I just got a replacement 500c from China & an enigma image was supplied on it. The image that was preloaded will scan but only a few channels come on, otherwise it scans & lists all the channels however the screen for each channel is black no audio or sound. I am really welcome some help & know that it may have been asked & dealt with already.I completely bricked my last one putting on an incomatible image so i want to be sure i am doing the right thing before i proceed.

    Thanks

first your box is a clone and so gemini 4.20 will brick it
download the dk1.1 it is clone friendly and install
do a scan for your area then download the nov fix and install
go to sky 1 and wait for channel to clear and your good to go

Gemini 4.2 is fine to use on clones, its later version which are not.

But you are right, he should be using DK1.1 as its the best, most stable and not a problem with clones.

I am unable to make a connection with the new unit, tried ftp, dcc, fxp, various cables, etc etc etc. I am going to see if the supplier will replace or refund. Great I now have 2 non-operational boxes. Source of eternal stress. Thanks for your reply

You tried using a Null Modem cable, not just an ordinary serial cable.

I think the ods of you have 2 units both not doing the same thing tell me if not the unit at fault, but what YOU are doing.

To flash the units, its simple....get dreamup software, here on the forums and buy yourself a NULL modem cable, not a rs232 cable.

Sure, i accept that it may be me, however I successfully made conections with the older box using these cables. That's how I bricked it.

Anyway the scanning procedure should operate properly irrespective. This is a brand new box with an image advertised as suitable for my area. It does not scan effectively as per previous.

The supplier (not sure if i can name them) is in contact & has asked if I could e-mail a "video" of whats happening, but the file is too big 890mb & 480mb compressed to send. So I can let you know what happens, if you want.

                Thanks again

I have eventually made a connection, & flashed DK1.1 but the exact same result as previously described after scaning procedure is complete. Only a few channels, the rest are listed but no A/V. I contacted the supplier, but I am encountering major prevarication.
