I am using a gemini v4.4 on dreambox 500c which was bought recently. I am not getting any signals locked on, even after trying the bruteforce transponder scan.
Any suggestions are welcome to make this work!!!!

used null cable with dream up.
like you said
that was all.
If its a flashed back-up from the past few hours,it should clear straight away as the keys will still be valid. If its a few days old the keys may have rolled.

Checkout the REDstickies massive amount of info and effort been put into them.
Track back...you've taken a backup of the good image on the working box...correct?
Then you flashed the backup image to the other box using dreamup. When it asks you the second time if you want to flash erase after flash, if you're flashing a backup image you want to select NO. If it does a flash erase after flash, it deletes everything in /var and replaces it with the contents of /var_init (which has no keys or roms). If you select NO to the flash erase after flash, it doesn't delete /var and it holds all your backup.
Reflash the backup and select No to the flash erase after flash and it should work ok. Unless there's a difference in the quality of the tuner, then that might explain the loss of channels from a scan.
thanks devilfish
you was right there was no keys in it so i added the keys and hey presto its working
but i seem to be missing a couple of channels namely sky sports 2 (which isthe main reason i messed with it in the first place)
am just doing another scan to see if it finds it.
if not is there a way to transfer it from the other box that has it ?
p.s. thanks for everyone's help tonight you have all been stars.
you know who you are.
On the box that has SP2, yellow > user features > servicesbackup.
FTP to the /tmp folder and copy the services.tar.gz file to your PC.
Connect to your 'troublesome' box and ftp the services.tar.gz file to the /tmp folder.
Do yellow > user features > servicesrestore.
The box will restart enigma and when it comes back up, it should have your services and bouquets the same as your other box.
Check SP2 and all going well it should come on. If you get the 'service not available' error then it will be a signal issue or simply that the tuner on that box is not as good as the one in the other box.
i am thinking that it might be the tuner as a few channels like VH1 are all pixely.
but will try you suggestion above in the morning as i am pooped now
thanks again for all your helps
hey
did the service backup/restore thing
have ss2 showing up but dont get a signal
tried it bearer the main cable socket and vh1 isnt pixely so am thinking it is signal strength.
2 questions
do i have to run a channel scan again for ss2 ?
will a cable signal booster help ?
