After a "dream up flash,,,:"
Reason: (I couldnt get my box to do anything it just kept showing dk logo on and off, for five minutes). I unplugged but it did it again.

Ive been flashing ,,"services file (no extension)"and bouquets,,to update my bouquet and services. Is that right?

Ive been reviewing and found this advice from an earlier post.

1. Use Dreamup to flash an image
2. Copy your cables.xml file to var/etc
3. Copy your bouquets across using dreamboxedit.exe
4. Copy your keys and scce files across using ftp program
5. Press Blue Button to download Evocamd 2.14 and restart cam.
6. Reboot dreambox

Im wondering what caused my box to fowl up,, do I need to flash my saved "xml.files" out of ,,enigma/cable/,, folder. or just the "services file".

You only 'flash' and image, i.e the .img file. Dreamup should only be used to flash an image or backup and image.

To copy single files to the box, you need to ftp them using an ftp program like flashfxp, cuteftp, etc.

When you do a scan, a 'services' file is generated in /var/tuxbox/config/enigma. If you want to transfer the channels from one box to another, copy this 'services' file.

If you want to transfer the bouquets from one box to another, there are a few files you need to copy.

1. 'bouquets' file in /var/tuxbox/config/enigma
2. 'cable' directory in /var/tuxbox/config/enigma

When you create a bouquet using the remote and the menu, a specific 'userbouquet.*****.tv' file is generated in /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/cable and the 'bouquets' file in /var/tuxbox/config/enigma is modified too. If you want to copy the bouquets from one box to another, copy the whole /var/tuxbox/config/enigma/cable folder plus the 'bouquets' file.

Copying them alone will not make them appear on the new box, the channels need to be 'reloaded' so that the box knows they're there.

On the DK v1 image, press Yellow > User Features > ReloadChannels

Or paste the following commands into your web browser whilst being connected to the box.

Or telnet to the box and type:

killall -9 enigma

The guide you have above is for converting a ready made Gemini/PLi image to work in the UK, the DK image is already configured for the UK so you don't need to do any of that stuff.

I understand that now devilfish, thanks for that:
Ive been copying just "services" to enigma folder,, and all the the cable directory,, to cable directory. Ive not been copying bouquets,,but it worked ,,then I wonder if by not copying bouquets ,,did this cause the crash?? Also if i update the tar.gz file in temp,,i.e. "backup services" when there is already one there,,will it overwrite the previous one.

If you do a servicesrestore after copying the services.tar.gz file to /tmp, yes the files will simply be overwritten.

If you're having hangup problems, maybe reflash and start a fresh.
