Help scanning on dreambox 500c

    Help scanning on dreambox 500c

    I have used this before and got all channels, but then returned to virgin media box as some channels were freezing, I have now tried to plug my dreambox back in and all of the channels have gone and I can't find any when I scan, can anyone help me please

    you say you find no channels? what image are you using? do you carry out a bruteforce for uk scan?

      I'm not sure what you mean by image, I bought the box and it was already flashed by somebody else, i am using bruteforce scan

        sounds like bad/improper connection if you are getting nothing at all!

          what image are you using? Try reflashing with a new image, might sort the problem out. Always advise on saving the services file or the whole working image when you have the channels setup the way you want so if something goes wrong you can reflash your working image or your services file back.

            If it is not a physical cabling fault, it sounds like you need to update your cables.xml file via FTP

            "Automatic scans" contrary to myth are not algorithmic or exhaustive. They use the cables.xml file which contains a list of frequencies, symbol rates etc. to use when performing various "automatic scans" such as bruteforce.

            If the frequencies and symbol rates do not cover the ones in your area you will detect no channels.

            If you no longer have a subscription, there is always the chance they switched you off at the box at the end of your street.
