    What Box?

I am up for getting one of these Dreamboxes but don't know where to start. Can anyone please tell me what the latest model is and how i can get hold of one? Thanks

Hi, i want to buy a dreambox but don't know where to go or how to get one. Can anyone help me answer a few questions? Are these the boxes that give you the free channels? Does the boxes come ready to go with the software on them? Where can i buy? What model? And most important, how much? Sorry to be a pain but i really have no clue what to get. Where can i get the latest software? Thanks

What type of service are you going to connect to, i.e. cable, satelite, freeview?
What do you want it to do? you say free channels, none are free if you know what i mean.

The other important part is how much are you willing to spend. You can spend from ?50 to ?450......

We can point you in all the right directions and asist you as you grow with it... You will find many people here doing the same, i was one once... we all were.

depends what you want mate, what service you are hooking up to, why not stick 'dreambox' in google and it will give you some pointers on what they do and what the latest model is and the prices, it is not always worth going for the latest most expensive box as the support is not always so easy to find. For a beginner look at a clone DM500 box (not made by oem anymore but lots of clones on ebay) and then have a read in the forums about it...

Hey. If you can afford one, the 600 model is pretty much the bee knees, but does not have HD capability. A lot of people (like me) can't put that much together so stick to the 500C, which to be honest, is an awesome bit of kit. Mine is 2 1/2 years old, has never let me down. I stream stuff around my wireless network and record faultlessly to my pc (which is a mac).

      Do it.

Sorry, for got to say, the seller I got it from - who is still working, is based in Germany. There was a discount code lying around but I can't find it just now. I personally recommend getting a new original box if at all possible. I've never needed it, but if you need to send one back, the service they offer is great.

What's more, the price difference between a clone and a real one is not that much from the last time I looked. The reduced stress is worth the extra few quid.

Evening, unfortunately the answer to your questions is - it depends!

If you buy and original dreambox - which will give the free channels - then the software you will get on it is most likely to be the german compatible factory software. You need to put a UK-friendly image on it to get it working over here.

If you are on cable, then you need a cable version, BUT you can get the 7025 with a Tuner for Cabel AND Satellite on it - but that starts to get expensive. You should give a little more info on it.

The best bit to be honest, is simply streaming the tv around you connecte computer network - and they can all do this.

Latest cable model is the dm600 which is roughly 200? for a non clone box
itgate tgc200 is very similar to the dreambox and is ?109 for a box with 2yr warranty with same, plus more than the dm500.
if you want to go down the clone route, remember you do so at your own risk and will get no real warranty with your box, and stay away from latest gemini images..
        boom!
