a friend has asked me get him a box for chorus mmds but i dont know if it worth the expense
can someone please tell me (what/how many) channals he can expect to get

He will be able to get all the FTA channels that ch*r*s provide,just make sure to get a box with a dvb-t tuner.

Yep. It should automatically scan and pull them in.

try the Eurovox TX. MMDS's bandwith can only transmit around 90 channels. unlike DVB-C cable

Assuming its pukka mmds from a mmds aerial on the roof he needs a 500-T. It will pick up everything they transmit not just the FTA. So about 90-100 channels.

He should pick up about 86 TV channels Including sports and movies etc with a DM500-T box and about 40 radio channels also. thats what I get of the same provider In Munster area.
