    Some mmds advice

I've been looking into setting up a mmds system, and have acquired this mmds antenna (see attachment)
At least i think it's a mmds antenna, because in most rooftops i've looked they seem to have those square mesh antennas.
Will this do with a dreambox and T-tuner to bring in the channels, or am i missing something??

Yep, will bring them in alright, exact same setup as image on 500c, presuming that 'In a very strange place' is in Ireland , of course!
    Whatever!!

      Cheers Tom,
So does that white box do the same job as a square mesh antenna?
And what is that black wire coming out at the bottom for? it looks like phone line or something,
There is none on square mesh antennas.

Alll you will need is the downonverter if you are within few miles of transmitter and have clear line of sight, you will prob have to get a mesh if further away,
To be honest, dont have a clue what that white box is!
        Anyway, you shouldn't need it!
        Whatever!!

I'll probably need something other than the downconverter,
Even though i'm in a cable area there is a new estate quite close to me that has mmds system throughout,
and the majority of those houses have a mesh antenna.

Maybe someone else can throw some light on this "white box"

You will also have to get a power supply for the ariel, and carefull when connecting it, if you connect them wrong way round, you will blow the tuner in the box!
            Whatever!!

You are missing the mesh part of the aerial. Also, I don't
think the white box is needed. Are they two separate cables
              in your photo ?

The cable coming out of the White box is 8 core.. i reckon probably for broadband and telephone,
Thing is, i rang the guy that had that setup to ask him if he ever had a square mesh ariel and he said no..
If the mmds transmitter is where i think it is (near Cork Airport) then according to Map source i'm 8.5 kms from it as the crow flies

The object sticking out with the 2 lugs at the end is a downconverter.
There should be a screw on connection on this for the coax cable to be attached. You will then need a power supply to power this. For eg downconverter to power supply, power supply to box.

White box looks like Wireless Broadband box, for areas that dont have cable / telephone broadband
