    DM500 Extra channels.

    Hi ,
Hope I don't come across as greedy but more curious about dm500c. This is probably one of the most common questions asked and I am sorry to out you all through it again but I can't find the answer.I live in the Dublin area and now have approx 110 channels.
Have a question about adding extra services/channels. I got my self a 500c box and set it up correctly and found channels using brute force etc so no issues there.
My question is dose brute force find 100% of the channels available to you and is there other ways to find more channels. For example I have living TV but not Living TV + 1. Is this just because this station may not be available to me. How could I find the set up codes for Living TV + 1 to try to manually connect? How could I find out and set up extra channels that brute force may not find?
My second question is that if I got a single booster would this make more channels available to me or are single booster just for people with bad connections.
These are just questions that I am curious about but can not find information on...cheers!

Thanks for your help on this.

Precisely where are you , eg Navan on Chorus or Wicklow on VPC ? Their website should list the channels available. Ideally you need a services.xml from someone nearby. Boosting is always a good idea if you are missing some. the SLX one from argos for 15 euro is good. The brute force should contain all the frequencies so if any missing boost....

If on vpc in the city try manual scan on 403000 to get living + 1

          Another ....

approx 125 channels. You will find that the ones missing are prob all on the same transponder. Try a manual scan on the frequency before getting a booster.

Thanks a mil! How do I know which transponder/frequency that these are missing from?

To be totally honest guys this isnt the best way to go down.

Missing channels, especially if only one channel, is usually, nearly always due to a signal problem, or some temporally network problem.
Probably been well documented before on here, but just to re-iterate what you should do on finding you have missing channels....

                - check your f'connecter(if applicable) is in good order, is well connected to your cable feed and not too loose, with no loose wires touching the outside of the casing etc..
                - try always scan on a direct cable feed, you can replace splitters after a scan,
                - if you are missing a handfull of channels, you should check the signal levels on the channels you do get,,, go to the stream data page and look at your signal levels, SNR AGC and BER,, on a cable box you should have 0... i know some boxes can operate with a little BER but any large number here is a sure sign something is wrong with the cable feed or the tuner..
                - if its only one channel, try doing a 'brute force' scan,, and scanning again at a later time.... even do a manual scan for ANY channel on your list already and tick the 3 boxes for enable network scan...

because plain and simple fact is, if the signal is not there you need to work on that rather than trying individial frequancys or using service files ( i know it cant be discounted ), but chances are, if you use someone elses on that channel it will either, i) not be there and be 'removed service'. or ii) it will just say 'Switch service canont be found' or along the lines of that....
                Hope this can help ..

                are you 6887 ntl glasgow ^^ ?

Agreed having someone's services ain't ideal.

I recently found my neutrino image wont auto scan a freq but it will manually (driving me mad) ie the freq say 3345 is in the cables but in auto scan its getting rounded up to 3350 whereas a manual scan of 3345 is working and finding the transponder. Haven't had time to test another image yet but at least the guy can do a quick manual scan using the freq listed there instead of running one of those monster BF scans.

(Not worried about my own problem as I will figure it out eventually)

Open up my services using internet explorer, inside you will see each group of channnels under a transponder and certain frequencies. Do a manual scan on the frequency of a trasnponder that you are missing and see what happens.

Its most likely a signal problem that you have fixable by booster.

I'd thought that I needed a booster because some channels disappeared e.g. Sci Fi and E4 + 1. However, reflashing with DK 1.0 and doing a full scan brought all the channels back. I believe it's the full scan that's the key. My ?0.02
