btw i've got evocamd 2.12 on my dk v1.1 image,
bit of noobish question but just wanted to ask whats the difference between these?
dont they do the same job like?
There are several different softcams that we can use; evocamd, mgcamd, newcamd & gbox. It doesn't really matter what one you use, they all do the same thing. Some emu won't work in certain areas or on certain providers
There is no difference for what it's used for in the UK.
The code that's used to decode N1 in evocamd_2.12 is the same code that is used in 2.17. The versions have progressed because other encryptions have been hacked and the code added to the existing binary. So later versions have loads of code for other encryption systems which is useless to folk using it on UK cable.
In fact, it goes against you to use later versions because they take up more space on your /var memory which could possibly make the box unstable.
Hi guys, very new to this. Used to be on the satellite decyption several years ago for "educational purposes" but just got myself a Dm500. Was going to try to flash tomorrow. However, 5 minutes ago, my TV blew up (literally - loud bang from my plasma - had it for more than 8 years!)
