DM500 How to watch High Definition Channels on your PC (DM500C)

So finally I found the most reliable solution to playback HD channels from the 500c on your PC.

As many of you may have tried, streaming via webx-tv or vlc is extremely choppy or un-watchable. All of the other miriard of streaming software also struggle with the HD channels.

All you need is XBMC.

XBMC has a built in Tuxbox Enigma Stream Client.

All you need to do is add a new "video source",

you just create a share with the Tuxbox IP adress and login informations.

On Opening, the client will receive the Bouquet + Channel list.. and on select a channel , it will begin to stream... it will also display Current and Next Events.

the path of the share should be as follows:

tuxbox://USER:PASSWORD@TUXBOX_IP:PORT/

mine for example is....

tuxbox://root:[email protected]:80/

This is the only piece of software that has succesfully played back HD channels stutter free and with 5.1 passthrough to my amp. I do get the occasional slight pixelation but it clears itself very quickly and I am currently watching BBC HD very comfotably.

Does this work with nuetrino images? i cant seem to get it to connect but i will try wit a dk image as soon as i can. Thanks for the info anyway, hope your enjoying your hd.

It does say enigma tuxbox streaming so I doubt it. I have tried it as using neutrino and can't get it to work either.

enigma only i'm afraid.....works well with dk1.1.

ive tried this and i get a error message saying ,Playlist playback aborted too many consecutive failed items.it does change the channel on the dreambox but no picture appears on the XBMC program. anyone know why?...using the dk image..

Guys an XBMC on the original Xbox will not play more than 480p. Well I cant get anything aboue that working. 720P X264 is very jurky. Are you referring to XBMC on the PC platform

Both my DM7000S & DM500C work great with my Xbox through Media Centre.

Im getting the bouqet displayed but when i click a channel it freezes XBMC

on the rare occasion BBC 1 will work, but then i go to change channel it freezes up

Im running Windows 7 x64 with Intel Quad @ 3 GHz, 3GB of RAM, ATI Radeon HD 4350

do think this is poor for what i am trying to achieve

This technique is now probably dead.

The XBMC dreambox plugin has not worked in XBMC for some time, also the stream output over Ethernet from the latest dreambox DM500C enigma images is quite poor in HD (including DK1.1) unless you switch off the onboard video decoder.
