    DM500C - No video output

    Hi guys...

My DM500C was working fine for months and suddenly lost video output. Blank screen is all I get but I can hear the audio. I get no video from scart or from the yellow composite video. Any ideas? Box useless? Easy fix?

I've tried reflashing many times with different images and still the same problem. I can hook it up to my computer and it works perfect on the computer through the enigma web interface and using FISCstream etc, I get audio and video. So I'm guessing its a hardware fault outputting the video.

Any help would be appreciated.. cheers

i know it sounds silly, but sometimes you have to really push the scart in to get video

Probably not much help but I'd be likely to agree with you that it is a hardware fault. Mainly because it the same after flashing.

I've pushed it in as far as can go... Played with it to try get any sort of picture but nothing. I'm thinking it's more than just a scart socket problem as there is no video output on the yellow composite either, which I would think would be separate to the scart... god knows.

Sorry for the quality of the pics... There doesn't seem to be any signs of a problem. It all looks fine inside to my untrained eyes

Scart is RGB but if you have a cheap cable it could be using composite out. last thing to try is a ypbpr and component on scart socket. Another thing to check if you have any electrical knowledge is use a multimeter on ac to see if there is a signal on composite out.

I dont remember the levels but you have have a DC and AC component. If not trace back from there could be a resister or diode gone somewhere feeding the comp out

Thanks for the suggestions phester... I have a multimeter but I'm not sure what you mean... I've got my thick head on today

With regards to your other suggestion... Do you mean get a scart adapter which accepts component input ?

                Sorry for my ineptitude!

no some cheap scart cables only use the component out pin. this is a pin on the scart socket as well as you phono jack that you have tried.

a good scart will have RGB, 3 seperate signal lines. as for the Multimeter. with the meter on ac put it across the component out. Yellow connector. there should be a reading of say 1/2 volt (guessing) this ac component is the signal. There may also be a DC component.

If not then trace back with the ohm test from the centre pin of the component and see where it takes you. if it goes to a resistor then check that.

If all that fails then some one with a better understanding of electronics will be needed or maybe time for the bin considering what they cost
