Dreambox 500c partially cycling though boot sequence

    Hi,
I’ve FTP-ed the dk_v1.1.img image to my dreambox tmp dir, renamed it and used the dreambox menu in expert setup to flash the image on. My problem is that it now boots part way showing the DK logo, then hangs reboots and starts the cycle all over.

Is there any way to restore the original flash or just pause the boot cycle for long enough to re-flash it? If I’ve bricked my 500c within 2 hours of owning it I’ll be gutted.

    Thanks.

You'll need to use DreamUp to reflash it mate, you'll find the box inaccessible using any other method.

The box is not bricked, and it's a fairly common occurance (atleast it is for me).

My problem is the whole start to end of the cycle seems to take about 15 seconds, that?s not long enough for the DHCP server to give it an IP address (first time round I used a router to connect, currently I?m playing with a null modem cable I hunted around and found) let alone flash a new image surly?

You shouldn't have to worry about DHCP if you're flashing it with a NULL MODEM cable.

As stated by Swiftie flash again using dream up, there should be two options one by serial and the other by crossover cable, with the cross over cable you need to enter the ip address, serial cable you don't.

ITgate TGM220 (swapable tuner), Dreambox 800 pro, Dreambox 500c x 2, DBox, Popbox media player.

Yes you are as you all know correct, even though the box only appears to be up for 15 seconds before rebooting it'self infact connecting with a null modem cable on comm 1 is no issue and dreamup solves everything. thanks for your help

Sounds similar to a problem I had on my 500s.
When I mounted a hard drive on my pc and the 500s couldnt connect to it ,due to an ip change,it kept looping at the boot up screen.
The only way around it was to reflash with Dream Up
