epg on 800hd fix

ok guys and girls, lets put are heads together. the epg isnt great on cable (im using gemini image at the mo) and others are having an issue too. so, why is it that the epg works great on my 500c but not my 800hdc?

is it something to do with the channel pvr_epg

to my understanding. some satellite channels send the epg down and if you want an update you just switch to that channel. am i right?

is this what pvr_epg is?

doing some reading on another forum and they talk about a 7 day epg and a file called epgfilter.xml . what is this?

i really want to get this sorted and im sure you guys do to.

Awritey mate,

I think that the lack of epg on our 800c's is down to lack of image support. The images are mainly meant for European Sat users, not UK cable.

Another problem is the UK cable epg stream doesn't conform to the standard stream spec (I'm sure I read that somewhere).

The reason we have excellent epg on dbox2, dm500, 600 etc is that these boxes and their software (neutrino, enigma1) has been around for years and the UK coders have had a long time to tinker with them. Whereas the dm800 and enigma2 haven't been around all that long.

Give it time and I'm sure the coders will sort us out, they always do.

have you heard of weekepg or crossepg? have you tried any plugins?

Yeah mate, I've been using EPG Refresh. It's ok, but still takes longer than I'd like to populate, it'll do for now though.

I thought I was loosing my mind at first!

You need to go into the settings and tell it not to update while the box is in use. It switches to each channel to pull the epg data, so I've set mine to only update between 2am-6am, it wakes up from standby and then goes back to standy when it's done.

i've got a dm7025 with gemini 4.40 and its exactly the same. no matter which image i use.
here's a reply i got from osborne82 who works for the cli team iirc.

the enigma2 images out have not been patched for ukcable epg so u wont ever get a decent epg on it no matter what image u use
time to patch your own images
well first you woul have to look at the diff for enigma1 (it should be in dev section ) make some sense of it then open up enigma 2 and see how to apply. The problem will be that enigma1 sources are c++ and enigma2 is python and as theres not much call for e2 cable not many teams will want to look at this problem

after reading through all threads about enigma 2 epg i downgraded to gemini 3.20 and got full uk cable epg but lost now and next.
so, maybe its possible for a tech guru (osborne82 where are you) to edit 4.40 with files from 3.20 to get a complete uk cable epg.

yeh, i was playing the xbox when i noticed the lcd change a few times, i thought it was my controller

lack of epg for cable, could this be why i cant get my timer record to work properly on the dm800c? just keep getting timer sanity error channel not in service list. is it because its a sat service list??

id like a one that loads a weeks worth then u can plan, course this wud be handy only if i can get the damn timer rec to work also media player is coming up blank when i click a file to play.

I've got a 7025 with Pli Jade 3 and I've got a 7 day epg working. I used e2_loadepg. It takes it's info from Radiotimes xml source (only option for cable).

It takes some time to setup as you have to match channel names with providers in your configuration file.
