DM500 How do I replace cable.xml in DK v1

I want to overwrite the cable.xml file that comes with the Digital Kaos v1 image with the one I use in my current image. but I don't seem to be able to do it. Is it write protected? If so I do I get around this? I'm using Filezilla to FTP into the box

ftp your cables.xml over to /var/etc and reboot
itl use this before the default one
