    Dreambox becoming a nightmare!

Hi there, could someone please read below and see what I am doing wrong as I have now spent nearly a week trying to get my DB 500c working with no joy.

    1) I have my img (full back up) on my PC.
    2) I connect my dreambox to Dreamup software and flash (without erasing) with the above IMG. Dream up says it is happy and flashed succesfully.
    3) I connect my box to my TV and do a bruteforce scan which finds hundreds of channels.
    4) All the FTA channels are there as I expect.
    5) I go to SS1 and hit the blue button and wait a minute or so.
    6) I then select evocam 2.12 , it then starts evocam and then....NOTHING!!
    7) I try a reboot which syas it is starting evocam again but again nothing.

I really cannot work out where I am making a mistake, could it be that the IMG i have is out of date?

Any help would be really appreciated.

Also I have a friend who has a fully working dreambox- If I was to borrow it and plug it in my TV should it work straight away? If so could I make full back up of his machine thru dreamup and then reflash my box with his back up?

Serkan sounds like your image is not up to date. If you do as you say in your second post you should be fine.

Thanks, so I guess I have two questions anyone out there who can send me a current image with full back up, and 2 if I can persuade my friend to lend me his box, is it absoloutley safe doing a full back up thru dreambox and in no way will I harm his machine/set up?

Cant help you with your backup question but hopefully someone may be able to send you one. Failing which, get your mates nothing will happen with his box. If you find it easy to use dreamup take a backup from his and flash to yours and you should be good to go.

            good luck.

if your frined is in your area, just tell him to do a backup, only takes few mins to do and flash it onto your box.
There is no danger in it and nothing to worry about.

So when I have done a back up of his box and then go to relash mine, do I need to do a flash erase?

from what youve done there is only one thing wrong, and tbh its nothing serious ,if only you had done some more reading youd have seen your missing the "magic file" i commend you for persivering with your problem you have done well so far, this is the only way you will learn things and later on you can pass on your knowledge ,try not to do things via pm's tho as others that follow this thread wont know whats been done , and this is what its all about ......sharing ........but apart from that youve done well

But I was assuming 'magic files' come across with a full back up.

yep everything should come across ,wot i ment is its nice to know where they go and how to put them in without saying to much in thread, and you now can help others who have the same problem or something similar ,because now you 've done it you can share with others that it really isnt all that hard
