The dreambox 800hd comes with with cable or sat tuner.
So if you got cable (VM) it is easier to setup and gives you all channels they broadcast including PPV etc..

Sat is a bit more complex and you would normally use your sky card in it as that wont give you all channels. you would normally cardshare on it to get all chanels.
    Setup: 2x Dreambox 800HD | 3x Dm500S on Motorised dish Setup

The best option IMO is to get a HTPC rather than a DM800HD.

A cable tuner will cost about ?40 for a Technotrend one.

That leaves you with roughly ?200 to buy a decent HTPC which will be able to do much, much more than a DM800HD will ever be able to do. Play relatively modern 3D PC games, browse the web, download & play movies in any format, stream content such as iPlayer, ITV Catchup, C4 4OD, Youtube etc. Even add Blue-Ray reader (for a little more).

You could build your own, or get an ASROCK Ion 330*

*This might limit you to a USB cable tuner which might cost more.

thanks for that alex but i really just want to get a cable or sat box and be able to keep it running when they bring in nagra 3, i was wanting to get a eurovox 7000hd cos it was cheaper than the dreambox, i dont suppose you know if i could cardshare with the eurovox box do you?

But would I be able to watch all the HD channels on the HTPC or will I be able to Watch S*y sport on there?

You can watch everything you can watch on a DM800C. The softCAMs that cable boxes like Dreambox use are all available for HTPCs equipped with cable or satellite TV tuner cards.

Plus it is a PC so you can browse the net (in 1920x1080) play MP3's with 3D visualiser, access video on demand HD services such as BBC iPlayer

Not to mention playing emulators of almost any computer or video games console even MAME arcade.
