DM500 How do I fix a Dreambox 500C using a null modem cable

Hi
This is my first time on Digital Kaos & need help with Dreambox 500C.
I've used Flash wizard pro several times in the past to put Neutrino on dreambox using a crossover cable without any problems.
The last few I've tried to do have frozen while transferring the files across & I've had to get someone else to fix the problem for me.
Can anyone point me in the direction of an idiots guide to fix this myself so I don't have to keep asking Mr fix it !
I've bought a null modem cable but that's as far I 've got.
