I have a dm500c which doesn't use the card, and have put in a few transponder frequencies manually. However, the only channels that work is a local FM station. Why are none of the other (video) channels showing video/audio? Also, I'm seeing an exclamation mark next to some of the channels; any idea why?

There might be a problem with your services file thats why you
are seeing the exclamation marks.
Disable auto scanning
Menu > Setup > Expert Setup Scroll down to Disable services
updates. Enable it and reboot box.

I was told that the problem is the SR#. I'm only seeing two numbers, SR6900 AND SR6875 (as I had done a factory reset), but they aren't the right ones for this region.
If this is the case, what are the right numbers, and how would I input them?Comment

The factory reset probably deleted all keys and rom files.You will probably have to flash the box.Comment

Any chance I can send the relevant settings to the box using an ethernet connection? I'm seeing (in the forum) that the usb-to-serial->null-modem cables can be problematic.

I tried the recommendations of Devilfish mentioned below, but they didn't work. I don't want to attempt to flash the box using the ethernet cable, even though it is the only connection I have to the box. Any alternatives, or should I take a stab at installing the latest pli-image before following Devilfish's instructions?

Well, I successfully flashed the box with Pli-Jade using the ethernet cable. The hardest part was to get the Emu engine (CCCam) to use the correct decryption keys. I had downloaded the latest satankeybundle, however its keylist file had a lot of unneeded entries. Inspection of a keylist file of a working dm500 shows only the keys needed for mctv. Simply having only 2 keys in the keylist file seemed to solve it.
Anyways, one more month left before it becomes a paperweight?Comment

500C Barbados
After all news in Barbados about nagra3. Decided to take my DB 500C to the shop get a refund as I could not get info what image should I use in Barb
............I did not want to risk it when I get in Barb and box would not work as I wanted to set it up for my grandma!! A lot of rumors going on about DB in Barb and no one know what will happen to cable TV in the next month or so

You could have download Pli-Jade3 from pli-images.org. On the top-right corner of that page, there are quick download links depending on which dreambox you use. The relevant one for you would have been DM500.
Anyways, seeing that no one knows what will become of the service in the coming month, returning your box was a safe option.Comment
