    DM500 Edit cable.xml?

    Hi?
My cable provider does not broadcast in a freq. area defined in the cable.xml file on my DM500, when i try to edit the file, it says that it is readonly, I can?t CHMOD either, any clues?

I did see something about a RO filesystem, but I?m a Linux Newbie, so I don?t know what to do about it.

    Kind regards
    Greatdane

Copy the file to your pc and then use text editor such as Ultraedit amend the file before copying it back to your dreambox.

I don?t get to write the file back to the box again.

The file/filesystem is readonly, not possible to change via CHMOD.

Could be something wrong with your ftp program if you are unable to copy the file to your dreambox or you are copying to the wrong area in your dreambox.

I see what you are thinking, but that?s not the case. I have no trouble on my DM600, the DM500 uses another filesystem, I did see it refered as "squashfs" on the web, don?t remeber where.

          Kind regards
