lo ppl i'm not the brightest candle in the box i got a dm500 cable box connected to virgin media it had been messed about with before i got it i am trying to get some life into it but dont seem to be getting anywhere with it

so far i have tried to put dw_v2 but still all the channels were still locked so i tried dk_v1.1 but i dont know how to get the keys i have been looking in every crevice but dont seem to be getting anywhere

i can only connect it to my pc through a null cable

please try not to be to technical with you answers as i really am not the brightest

you only need to use the null modem cable to put your image on, you will then be able to scan and get all the channels then you will need a router and an ethernet cable to ftp the files over to open those channels. watch this video Digital Kaos - - How to set up a dreambox it may make it a little easier to understand

nah im a bit older than that but it helped me understand when i did my first one! the router doesnt have to be yours it could be a mates

i have virgin media broadband but i have orange broadband with a wireless router it has 2 ports in my sons room can i connect it to that ??
