cant flash dreambox

running vista on lappy prolific usb serial port set to com 2 but dream up says it cant open the port .....WHY??? can anyone explain with some clarity why this keeps happening.?

Lots of people have problems with Dreamup andUSB null modem, find an old pc with serial com port and save yourself the headache.

def go with a proper serial port, i've used both the prolific adapter and another brand and had nothing but trouble.

save yourself a few headaches and find a machine with one built in, most desktops over 3 tears old will have a nine pin on the back of the machine which will do the job perfectly.

null modem cable,serial com port,dreamup,simple,that's the only reason why I have kept my old PC,sorting out the Dreambox when it goes down.

never had problems using vista with moxa/U-port usb to serial adaptor!, maybe worth a try!

i have same problem with vista . cant get usb phoniix conected cant find port .
old window 7 get every port conected. plus driver aswell
i fill sorry my self gone for viasta
