    Anyone near Wiagn

Guys I've also posted in general cable chat but thought might et a better answer here.

Having big problems trying to scan anything with my ipbox, well to be honest I can't get a thing.

I have been given a cable.xml with bruteforce but still nothing scans in. I am hoping there is someone from the Wigan area ( ex TW ) who can help me out with a cable.xml file so I can give it one last try before I send dvb-c tuner back to dealer.

    Thanks

if so , have you installed mgcamd 1.33 ? because you will need to configure it..

      No m8,

It does not find channels at all, no ids no channels nothing.

I have the box on now connected directly to main feed on the wall and trying to scan again.
Its the same story over and over again, 0 channels found.

I have tried bruteforce virgin, virgin 6952 and virgin 6887.

I am at a complete lost.

uglybloke has just sent me a cable.xml that i tried but same result zero channels.

soon as db500-c comes i can try that and that will tell me if its the tuner in the ipbox9000.

i am willing to try more cable.xml files in the mean time though. i'll pm you

What you need is the Symbol rate and frequency of one working transponder in your area then you can do a Manual Network scan.

Do you not know anyone local who has a box and can show you the symbol rate and frequency of a working channel?

If they have a Dreambox running an Enigma Image you would switch to a working channel and then press :

                Menu->Information->Stream Information->Right->Right

This will give you an OSD image like this

NOTE: The INV box is shown not ticked, this is a bug in most Enigma images. It really is ticked.

You can see the Symbol Rate and Frequency of this transponder, write it down and return to your box

                Now press:

                Menu->Setup->Service Searching->Manual Transponder Scan

You will get an image a bit like this :

Notice the high AGC (automatic gain correction) and BER (Bit error rate) this is because there is no transponder on this frequency, symbol rate, inv.

Now enter the values you got from your friends box and you should see something like this

The BER drops to zero, LOCK & SYNC become ticked indicating there is a transponder on this frequency, symbol rate & inv setting. Now select the Network search and press start scan (green) and this should find you a whole bunch of channels.

Thanks for that m8, don't know anyone round here with a dreambox and don't really fancy knocking on people's doors and asking.

Now I have ordered a dreambox 500-c and hopefully it should come tomorrow then I can have a look.

I know on my official receiver my default freq is 531000 and the files the two lads above sent me also have freq 531000 for Wigan but this gives me nothing on the ipbox.

I am going to wait for the drembox before I send tuner back to dealer for a replacement.

might sound like a stupid question but is the feed into the house live ? , also , do you have a subbed box there you can try ?.

m8 I sub to two boxes. see above where I type official box.

I have tried the ipbox in place of one box and the other and even removed splitter so its only one cable but nothing is found when scanning.

I have tried two different F connector to coaxial adapters and even snip cable and put a coaxial adapter on the end.

The misses has gone mad with me because I took Friday and Monday off work to tile the bathroom and done ~~~~ all in there. Spent all the time trying to get the ipbox to work on cable.

I have seen this number before:

                        Wigan TW, 40967 531000 6952
                        This breaks down to :

                        NetID = 40967
                        Transponder Frequency = 00531.000 MHz
                        Symbol Rate = 6952

These two numbers (highlighted in red) give you enough information to perform a manual scan with network search (at least on a dreambox) in your area.

                        Looking something like this :

Edit : Ah, I see you are a seasoned user, you already know all of this. If you google "IPBOX 9000 manual scan" I see posts from you all over the net

I've no idea what NetID (40967) is for when it comes to scanning perhaps you need that?

Otherwise it is going to be one of 2 things

                        1) Broken DVB-C cable tuner
                        2) Bug in IPBOX 9000 image you are using

Have you been able to track anyone down who has used one DVB-S2 and one DVB-C cable tuner in IPBOX 9000?

Even though you cannot tune, can you measure signal strength, AGC & BER on a particular transponder frequency & symbol rate?

That IPBox 9000HD looks damn nice (if infeasibly expensive!)

I've found some people saying DVB-C tuners are working in IPBox 9000HD image r9580 but I have no idea what that is, where to find it etc. etc.

yeah I know a few people on the net who are using the ipbox9000 with a dvb-c and dvb-s2 tuner and for them its working great.

r9580 image is one of the dgstation ( company behind this receiver ) images that have been modified with emus etc.

Now we also have the choice of using E2 images and most guys do use E2 images and don't have any problems.

My receiver is actual the cuberevo, it is from the same company and is the same inside but the front is different to the ipbox9000.

Just to let you guys know that my db500-c has arrived and it taken me the time to boil the kettle to scan channels in on the db500.
So now its play time with the db500 and get this damn tuner exchanged for the ipbox.

Cheers to all for your help, when new tuner arrives I will post back results.
