Killed Dreambox

This has to be a record, got dreambox 500c a hour ago and now its ~~~~ed.
Started OK and it had gemini image on it, scanned in channels put box in standby while I went and made a brew came back and it would not start.
Flashed box using dreamup and null modem cable with DK image and did flash erase but all that happens is when I pull power in little green light comes on at the front and stays on. I get no picture nothing, rc does not response, pressing standby on front does nothing.
So flashed again this time with nabilosat and again nothing starts just the green light on the front.

Anyone got any ideas ?

if you got green light you got power source. have you got scart lead in the vcr socket at back it should be in the tv one also make sure it pushed right in and on tv otherwise all you will get is black screen and no picture

you could well be right there i was thinking of my open media which has 2 scart sockets i had it in wrong 1 once and wondered why i couldnt get picture

keep reflashing mate. it should come to life. my 500c took 8 attempts before

Guys I have managed to get back on but each time I put it standby or turn it off it wont start again.

Also I know on the sat version if you press any of the rc buttons then the green light on the front flashes, with this 500c it is not doing that.

I am using DK 1.1 image.

Sounds like the remote receiver board may not be attached to the motherboard or indeed the remote reciever board may be faulty.

Open the box and small board attached to front panel, will have cable from it to mainboard, make sure that cable is pushed in right and correct way round.

If its not the cable then its the reciever board itself, send it back for replacement.

I did get it on but it crashed. I am trying to flash with dreamup
but keep getting "error resetting lockbits".
I have a erase image here for the 500 but that gives same error message.

Manage to flash box but what I right pile of crap I have here.
It has to be a clone, every 2 minutes the box locks up you then have to wait 5 minutes before you can restart it.

Got to say for a clone its a very good copy, took it apart and even has the pcb stamped with dream multimedia.

Did you buy it new?
If so and bought within last year it most certainly is a clone. dreammedia stopped making the 500 nearly 2 years ago

THe clones are better than orginals most times.

no got it of ebay, second hand.

now there is a date on the pcb and its 2001.

at the mo its holding its own but i'm not confident that its going to stay that way.

does anyone know what colour light should be inside for the ethernet ?

i thought real dreambox was green this is yellow.

Clones work just as good.

My light is orange/yellow on dm500 clone.
